ARROWHEADS
Points were
typed with Lar Hothem's
Indian Artifacts of the Midwest,
Book V Identification and Value Guide.
Since projectile points are much older than our memories, point-typing is a
tricky business. I have found many conflicting opinions in types. Some of my
information also came from the
Illinois State Museum.
If you, the viewer, see a major discrepancy
in my classification, please bring it to my attention and I will be more
than happy to make the appropriate changes. Thank You. SMH.

2009 Update
With spiraling oil prices most
farmers have stopped disking the fields which turns the soil about 5
inches down. Now they "rake" the topsoil about 3 inches down with
harrowers and in many cases don't even turn the ground at all and
plant directly into last years crop-stubble. Thus many artifacts -
including points - remain unexposed so harder to find. As a result,
the price of arrowheads and other Indian artifacts have risen
dramatically and will continue to rise. Invest now in the history of
North America. |

writing on bone and wood and it shows a bit of wear. There is a smooth
edge on one side near the lower end of the tool and a serrated edge for
sawing near the upper end. The other side of the tool has 2 different size
spoke shavers for arrow shafts and is also quite sharp. On top of that,
this tool could also be used as a spear point.
