2010 Update
With spiraling oil
prices most farmers have stopped disking the fields which turns the
soil about 5 inches down. Now they "rake" the topsoil about 3 inches
down with harrowers and in many cases don't even turn the ground at
all and plant directly into last years crop-stubble. Thus many
artifacts - including points - remain unexposed so harder to find.
As a result, the price of arrowheads and other Indian artifacts have
risen dramatically and will continue to rise. Invest now in the
history of North America. |

"All of these were found at a permanent campground called Chimney
Rock (A large sandstone formation in the middle of the sight
resembling a chimney. It stood approx. 15 ft high and 20 ft.
around). This sight is about three quarters of a mile north of the
Canadian River. All the pieces were found in the late 1960's and the
early 1970's. They were found by my family (my mom, dad and myself).
My parents excavated using a homemade screen on portable legs. As a
young boy, I had my own screen made out of a coke box and I used a
child's shovel to try to be like my parents. I found several of
these points in my little screen. It is believed that the Hi-Plains
Indians that lived here were farmers and followed the buffalo to
help the tribe survive." Paul P. |
